Assistant Secretary Munasinghe stated that each divisional secretariat has been allocated 50 million rupees (approximately US$162,528) to provide immediate assistance to affected families. He added that relief funds have been increased for public convenience. The funds can be released without any administrative delays.
355 Sri Lankans killed in floods:
He said that in addition to the funds previously released for rations, authorities have also approved the distribution of packaged dry food items to those in need. According to the latest data from the Disaster Management Center, 355 Sri Lankans have died, and 366 are missing due to the severe weather in the country.

On the social media platform X, the Chinese Embassy in Sri Lanka stated that the Chinese Red Cross Society has provided emergency cash assistance of US$100,000 to assist in the ongoing rescue and relief operations.
