Bengaluru Shock: Rapido Driver Accused of Misbehaving with Female Passenger

Bengaluru Shock: A young woman in Bengaluru on Friday accused a Rapido rider of forcibly trying to grab her leg while riding and detailing the incident in an Instagram post.

Woman’s allegations:

The woman said the incident occurred while she was returning to her paying guest accommodation from Church Street. She wrote in the post, “While riding, the captain (rider) forcibly tried to grab my leg. The woman said that when it happened again, she screamed and asked the rider to stop. The woman alleged, “I told him, ‘Brother, what are you doing? Stop doing this,’ but he didn’t stop. I didn’t ask him to stop midway because she was new to the city and didn’t know the way. Upon reaching her home, a passerby noticed her distress and spoke to the biker when she narrated the incident.

“The captain apologized and said he wouldn’t do it again, but as he left, he pointed his finger at me in a way that made me feel even more unsafe. I’m sharing this because no woman should have to endure something like this—not in a cab, not on a bike, not anywhere.” She added that this wasn’t the first time she had encountered such behavior.

Police took cognizance, and Rapido issued a statement

The Bengaluru City Police responded to her Instagram post, asking her to share her location and contact details to initiate a formal investigation.

Meanwhile, Rapido issued a statement expressing concern over the incident. The company said, “During your recent trip, the captain’s inappropriate behavior has been reported.” We are concerned to learn about this. Your safety and comfort are our top priorities. Please allow us some time to investigate the matter thoroughly.”
